Obituary of Jerry Wayne Murphy, Sr.

Ridgeway – Graveside service for Jerry Wayne Murphy, Sr., 79, will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in Old Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Ridgeway.  The family will receive friends from 4-6pm on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Powers Funeral Home.

Mr. Murphy passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024.  Born in Winnsboro, S.C., he was the son of the late Samuel Theodore Murphy and Helen Clack Murphy. He was a member and former deacon of Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church. Jerry owned and operated Jerry Murphy Wrecker Service, enjoyed riding motorcycles, and loved his many grandchildren.

Surviving are his children, Wayne Murphy (Kelley) and Bryan Murphy (Starr); grandchildren, Jacob Murphy (Taylor), Johnny Murphy (Katelyn), Sam Hornsby (Alex), Ashley Jordan, Shannon Murphy, Justin Murphy, and Blair Branham; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Ricky Murphy; and sister-in-law, Rose Murphy. He was predeceased by his brother, Ronnie Murphy.
