John Cassady Obituary

John A. Cassady of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully on August 14, 2024. He was born in Kershaw County, South Carolina to John E. and Estelle W. Cassady. He was raised in Camden, SC. 

After graduating from Camden High School in 1947, John served in the United States Air Force in several states and Germany.  Upon returning home from the Korean War, John married Patricia Haynes Cassady. They moved to Clemson, SC for John to pursue an electrical engineering degree at Clemson University. Upon his graduation, John moved his family to Charlotte to begin what would be a 27 year career with Duke Power.

John was an active member of Saint Andrews United Methodist Church for 58 years. In addition to John’s love of the Lord, he loved and cherished his wife and family. He expressed a strong desire to be a part of his children’s and grandchildren’s lives, attending numerous ball games, dance recitals, and award ceremonies.

John was pre-deceased by his loving wife, Patricia H. Cassady, his parents, John E. and Estelle W. Cassady, two brothers: Charles Cassady and Harold Cassady, a granddaughter, Ashley Elizabeth Cassady, and a son-in-law, David Broerman.

He is survived by his children, Denise Cassady Morrison (Tim) of Waxhaw, John Cassady (Angie) of Mooresville, and Cheryl C. Broerman of Charlotte, his grandchildren, Margaret M. Blemaster (Tom), Meredith Morrison, Preston Morrison (Kristen), Patrick Morrison, Kelly C. Allen (Sam), MacKenzie Cassady, Tanner Cassady (Ashley), Ian Broerman, Charlie Broerman, and Cassady Broerman,  He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Paisley Allen, Saylor Allen, Daphne Blemaster, Miles Morrison, and baby Morrison.  Also surviving are his sisters, Helen C. Team and Janet C. Todd (Rusty) and sister-in-law Barbara P. Cassady.  John also treasured his many, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

The family will have a private burial service in Camden, South Carolina. Kornegay Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Any memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
