John Jaynes Obituary

Celebration of Life services for John Jaynes, 76, will be held at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Son-in-law, John Thomas will preside. The family will receive friends until 6:30. Memorials may be made to Kershaw County Animal Shelter, 128 Black River Road, Camden, SC or Cedar Creek Baptist Church, 3002 Camden Highway, Bishopville, SC.

John Robert “Johnny” Jaynes passed away on August 24, 2024.  He was born in Nebo, NC, the son of the late J.B. and Shirley Wells Jaynes.  Johnny was a member of the 1964 Camden State Championship football team.   He played baseball for Clemson University, then graduated from the University of South Carolina.  After graduating, he served in the United States Army.

Johnny is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jeanette “JJ” Farmer Jaynes; daughters, Chris Thomas (John), of Murrells Inlet, SC, and Beth Greene, of Hickory, NC; grandchildren, Jordan Hollar (Marcus), Samuel Greene (Danielle), Jaz Greene, Chelsea Thomas, and Camden Greene; great-grandchildren, Kouver Hollar, Oakley Dew; brothers, Randy Jaynes, of Columbia, SC, John Snyder, of Bakersville, NC, and sister, Judy Jaynes, of Boulder CO.
