The Blythewood and Ridge View boys and girls basketball teams picked region wins Friday heading into Saturday’s huge showdown between the rivals.
On the girls side Ridge View defeated West Florence, 74-24 while Blythewood defeated Sumter, 53-45. The two teams enter Saturday’s matchup at Blythewood with 9-0 records in Region 5-5A. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. with the boys to follow at 3:30 p.m.
In the boys side, Blythewood defeated Sumter 68-44 behind TJ Lewis’ 35 points. Ridge View rolled past West Florence, 80-43.
Ridge View leads the Bengals by a game in the Region 5-5A boys standings.
Saturday’s matchup is a makeup game from last month’s snow storm. The two teams will play twice in a six-day span with the second matchup set for Feb. 14 at Ridge View

leads DF by a game in the region standings. If River Bluff
wins on Tuesday, it will win the region title. The Gators won a thriller against the Silver Foxes, 49-48, on Jan. 28 .
▪ Hammond boys rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit to defeat Heathwood Hall, 48-33.
