Obituary of Elaine Smith

Ridgeway – A service to celebrate the life of Marjorie Elaine “Laine” Crossland Smith, 80, will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints – Ridgeway Ward, with burial to follow in Centerville Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Missionary Fund.

Mrs. Smith, wife of the late Gerald Dean Crossland, passed away at Prisma Health Richland Heart Hospital on Monday, February 17, 2025.  Born in Fairfield County, she was the daughter of the late Johnnie Richard and Ruby Elma Branham Dove.   She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints – Ridgeway Ward where she served in many positions throughout the years.  She loved her Heavenly father and lived every day to emulate Him.

Mrs. Smith loved to bake and cook.  Food was her love language.  She adored her family and enjoyed anything that involved them.  Her friends knew they could count on her and felt her love.   Her greatest love was her grandchildren.  She was always so proud of them and their accomplishments.  Any day surrounded by her grandchildren was a good day!

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Kimberly Crossland Wilkes (Randy) of Ridgeway and Pamela Jean Adams (Ryan) of Ridgeway; sister, Patrica Peake of Elgin;  grandchildren, Grayson Adams Tippett (Dallin), Macy Adams Lewis (Evan), Samantha Wilkes, Jessie Adams, and John “J.T.” Wilkes and sister-in-law, Sandra Dove.  She was predeceased by her second husband, David Lindsay Smith; and brother, Jerry Anthony Dove.

The family extends a special thanks to Samantha Allen, nurse at Prisma Health Richland Heart Hospital, Nisha Williams, Medical Tech, Tricia, night nurse and Prisma HOSPICE for their loving care.
