Playoff Rewind: Lower Richland girls, Irmo boys among first-round winners

The second day of South Carolina High School League basketball playoffs were held Tuesday around the state.

Here is a look on how Midlands teams fared in their opening-round games:

Boys Basketball Scores

Class 5A Division II Boys

Irmo 75, Socastee 50: The Yellow Jackets won first-year coach Alex Quillen’s playoff debut. Jeremy Anderson

led Irmo with 17 points. Christian Brown

had 13, Antwoine Pierce

11 and Matt Hopkins

10. Bryson Sams

led Socastee with 25.

Irmo goes to Berkeley in the second round on Friday.

Myrtle Beach 52, White Knoll 47

Lugoff – Elgin 56, Lucy Beckham

41: The Demons won their first home playoff game in 15 years and will go to No. 2 Goose Creek on Friday:

Westwood 60, North Myrtle Beach 35: The Redhawks rolled past the Chiefs and are headed to top-seeded Conway on Friday.

Class 3A Boys

Keenan 62, Marlboro County 23: Marcus Simmons

had 10 points and 10 different Raiders scored in the win over the Bulldogs.

North Charleston 61, Newberry 59: NC hit two free throws with six seconds left for the win.

Batesburg-Leesville 60, Eau Claire 55: Ta’Maj Gilliam poured in a game-high 28 points in the Panthers’ victory. Braylen Davis added 13 and Nasean Stewart had 12.

Richard Winn

33, Newberry Academy 19: The Eagles advanced to Tuesday’s semifinals with a win over Newberry Academy . Richard Winn

will play Curtis Baptist on Thursday at Wilson Hall.

Girls Basketball Scores

Lexington 72, Boiling Springs 40: The Wildcats broke the game open in the second half and go to JL Mann on Thursday.

Rock Hill 74, River Bluff 57

Ridge View

85, Stall 21: The Blazers rolled in their playoff opener and go to Wando on Thursday.

Spring Valley 75, Stratford 37: The Vikings win and head to Summerville on Thursday.

Class 4A

Lower Richland

71, Gilbert 27: Chi’Nya Isaac scored 21 points as the Diamond Hornets advanced in the playoffs. LR hosts Darlington on Friday. Jhnai Sumter had 12 points and Taelor Hiller

had 10.

Camden 74, Laurens 20: Morgan Champion

had 19 and Braylin Mungo

scored 16 for the Bulldogs. Shanaryah Wright had 13 and Harmony Jefferson

finished with 11 for Camden.

Gray Collegiate 71, Crestwood 37: Kiley Freeman

(18) and Kadence Walker-Lee

(16) led the way for the War Eagles. Diamond Tatum

scored 13 and Alyssa Salaam

had 12.

AC Flora 66, Seneca 48: Teonna Draughn scored 27 points and Skylar McCray had 15 for the Falcons, who will travel to Daniel for the second round on Friday.

Daniel 64, Richland Northeast 23

Class A

CA Johnson 64, Ware Shoals 18: Aniah Porter scored 18 and Jena Morales added 16 in the Green Hornets’ win.
