At Least 11 Killed in S.C. By Violence

At least 11 lives were lost to violence in South Carolina during the weekend.

Pvt. Donald B. Davis of New Ellenton, & a Marine home on leave, and Mrs. Katherine Herron of Augusta, Ga., were found asphydated by gas escaping from a heater in a motel at Johnson’s Crossroads in Aiken County.

A New Ellenton man, Calvin K. Pickens, 32, was killed when his station wagon wrecked at a culvert near his home town.

A car hit and killed Irene Nelson, 40-year-old Negro woman of Blaney, as she crossed a Columbia street.

A Negro woman was questioned at Columbia in the fatal stabbing of George Culler, 38-year-old Negro.

Eva Mae Moore, 48-year-old Negro, was found bludgeoned to death on a Columbia street officers questioned a Negro man.

Her care started to reverse as she went to leave her bome and Mrs. Fannie Pace Henderson, of Gaffey, was thrown out and killed.

A two car collision 12 miles west of Dillon was fatal to Smith Miller, 74, of near Little Rock in Dillon County.

Playing with a rope tied to a tree proved fatal to Isaac Galloway, 11, of Horry County. He jumped from a fence and the rope encircled his neck, hanging him.

Gabriella Thompson Biggers, a Nero, was shot to death in front of a poolroom in Rock Hill. Police held James A. Graham, Negro, in connection with the death.
