Elgin – A graveside service for Michael Forrest Carson, 78, will be held at a later date in Union Baptist Church Cemetery, Elgin.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Theil-Meyer Pet Adoption Center.

Mr. Carson passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025 surrounded by his family at home.  Born in Rock Hill, S.C., he was the son of the late Herman Forrest Carson Jr. and Vivian Finley Carson. He served in the United States Marine Corp during Vietnam.

Mr. Carson enjoyed mechanic work and loved old cars.  He was an avid NASCAR fan.  He was also a gun enthusiast and enjoyed yard work.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Virginia Wilson Carson; son-in-law, James Sean Vaughn (Yvonne) of Elgin; brother, Kevin Carson (James) of Dandridge, Tenn.; grandchildren, Michael “Jamey” Vaughn (Brenna), Nathan D. Vaughn (Shelby), and Abbe C. Vaughn; and great-granddaughter, Charlotte Vaughn.  He was predeceased by his daughter, Heather Carson Vaughn.
