Cokesbury, April 16.- In consequence of the absence of the presiding elder, Rev. W. T. Duncan, who accompanied the remains of Rev. A. J. Stokes to Camden, the meeting of the second quarterly conference which was to be held in the Methodist church at Cokesbury on Saturday. was postponed.
There were, however, divine services held in the church conducted by the Rey. Melvin Kelly, rector of the Methodist church at Greenwood.
There were no services in the Methodist church on Sunday morning, In consequence of the Illness of the pastor. Rev. S. D. Vaughan.
Mr. Yoder of Lancaster visited his son, one of the scholars of the Cokesbury Conference school last week. He was the guest of Mr. James R. Jones.
The Cokesbury Conference school baseball team went up to Due West on Saturday to cross bats with the Due West second nine, but in consequence of the heavy downpour of rain the game was called off/ Soon after it had commenced the game stood one score each.
The lawn party on Friday afternoon in the beautiful grove in front of the Presbyterian church was guite a pleasurable event, and much enjoyed by the pupils of the Cokesbury Conference school and then invited guests.
Miss Cora Connor of Lander college, Greenwood, visited friends here last week. She was the guest of Mrs. G. L. Connor.
Mr. Ray Calder of Abbeville spent Sunday In Cokesbury with his sister, Miss Julia Calder.
Mr. Sam Calder of Gastonia, N. C.. spent a portion of last week as the guest of his sister. Miss Julia, and his uncle, Mr. B. J. Herndon.
Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Palmer and Mr. John Kennerly worshipped at the Episcopal church at Greenwood on Sunday and had the pleasure of hearing a most earnest and beautiful Master sermon, delivered by that devout man of God, Rev. Porcher. They were the guests during their stay in the city of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Park.
