Mrs. Gloria Glenn Howell went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 24, 2025. She was born in Bryan, Texas, on February 20, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Robert Turner and Cassie G. Turner. After graduating from George Washington High School in San Francisco, California, she attended Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree. She continued her education at Queens College in Flushing, New York, receiving her Master of Science in Education.
Mrs. Howell began her education career as a third-grade teacher. She later transferred to an intermediate school where she was both a sixth-grade teacher and a grade advisor for the remainder of her career.
Dedicated to community service, she was initiated as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Zeta Chapter, Wilberforce, Ohio, in 1950.
Mrs. Howell was a life member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and a Diamond Soror of Iota Omega Omega Chapter, Camden, South Carolina. She was a faithful member of Camden First United Methodist Church, where she participated in the United Methodist Women of Faith and her Family Group. Locally, she was a member of the Kershaw County Senior Citizens Club.
Survivors include her daughter Carol (Virgil) McIver, two grandchildren, Jessika and Joshua Snape, brother-in-law Michael (Caroline) Howell, sisters-in-law Jeanette (Alvin) Harris, Arlene (Doug) Rose, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin Howell, Jr., and daughter Deborah L. Howell.
