The Moyds will be celebrating 72 years of marriage on Saturday, May 4, 2024.

Nathaniel is from Georgetown County and Melvina is from Williamsburg County. Nathaniel was a member of Brown’s Chapel in the Oceda Community near Andrews, South Carolina. Melvina was a member of Nazareth A.M.E. Church in Suttons-Santee Roads, Andrews, SC. They met at Nazareth A.M.E Church.

The couple were married in holy matrimony on May 4, 1952. From this union came nine children (5 boys, 4 girls): Nathaniel Moyd Jr., Glenwood Moyd, Gardenia Thompson, Stephone Moyd (Cindy), Vincent Moyd (Harriett), Linda Moyd and Cassandra Moody (Sam). Decease children are Vernon Moyd and Cathy Reed. The couple has 15 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grands.

The Moyd’s are members of Jehovah Baptist Church in Elgin, South Carolina. Their pastor is Rev. S.E. Marshall. The couple are the oldest and Deacon and Deaconess still living. They both served on the Musical Choir and the Satisfied Gospel Choir, which was organized by Deacon Moyd.

Nathaniel and Melvina both love singing and praising God.
