Barbara Elliott Obituary
Barbara Hardwick Elliott, 79, wife of Charles Douglas Elliott, died on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Born in Mullins, SC, she was the daughter of the late Walter Thurman and Mazie Gerald Hardwick. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at the National Steeplechase Museum, 200 Knights Hill Road, Camden. Memorials may be made to Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, 1206 A Lyttleton Street, Camden, SC 29020 or lsumc.net.
Barbara was a stay-at-home mom until the younger of her two sons, Shawn, started first grade in 1979. She then went to work at TransSouth Financial. In 1992, Barbara joined her husband at West DeKalb Motors until they both retired in 2009. Barbara loved both Lake Wateree and Garden City, where she and Charles spent most of their summers. She loved cooking for her neighbors and friends. Barbara loved being a mother to her two sons, Mitch and Shawn, but nothing compared to being a grandmother, “Mimi”, as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren, Becca, Courtney, Maddyn, and Max.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles Douglas Elliott; sons, Mitch Douglas Elliott (Lori) of Daniel Island, SC and Shawn Hardwick Elliott (Summer) of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Becca Elliott of Columbia, Courtney Elliott of Charleston, SC, Maddyn Elliott of Columbia, and Max Elliott of Columbia; and sister, Doris Hardwick Miller of Lancaster, SC.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her sister, Jeanette “Teny” Hardwick Ross.
Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is assisting the family.
