Obituary of Frances E. Stewart

Lugoff, SC – Funeral services for Mary Frances Ennis Stewart, 87, will be held Friday, May 10, 2024 at Powers Funeral Home at 3:00 pm. The Rev. Angela Marshall will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Graveside services and burial will be held Saturday at 2:00 pm in Springhill United Methodist Church Cemetery, Lillington, NC.

    Mrs. Stewart, wife of the late William “W.M.” Stewart, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Born in Lillington, NC, she was a daughter of the late Curvin Ennis and Mary Dennis Ennis. Mrs. Stewart was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. She loved her church and was very active in its’ ministries and was a part of the Golden Hearts Club. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach and Dollywood, cooking, gardening, and going to Wake Forest home football games with her late companion, Bob Keyes.

    To know Frances Stewart was to love her. She was a beacon of Christ’s love, exuding warmth, generosity and compassion to everyone she encountered, brightening this world with her unwavering kindness. Her legacy will continue to inspire countless acts of goodness for generations to come. She will be dearly missed by family and friends but forever remembered with love and gratitude.   

    Surviving are her son, Steve Stewart (Jean) of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Sheila Hooper (Dave) of Lugoff; grandchildren, Stevie Plew (Patrick), Lizzie Hooper; and great-grandchildren, Levi and Silas Plew. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Vickie McClain; 8 siblings; and her companion of many years, Bob Keyes.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church at PO Box 218, Lugoff, S.C. 29078
