Obituary of Norma Maxine Epling Shrader

Lugoff – A service to celebrate the life of Norma Maxine Epling Shrader, 93, will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. in Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church.  The Rev. Richard Humphries will officiate.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. 

Mrs. Shrader, wife of the late Joseph Johnson Shrader, passed away at home on Friday, May 2, 2025.  Born in Goodwins Ferry, Va., she was the daughter of the late Adford Allen and Luna Vaught Epling.  She retired from E.I. Dupont.  She was a member of Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church where she was a  member of the Golden Hearts.  Mrs. Shrader was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed working in her yard and working word search puzzles.

Left to cherish her memory, is her children, Linda Rabon (Harold), Paul Shrader (Patti), J. Wayne Shrader (Annie), and Donald Shrader (Shari); 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Howard Epling (Angi); and numerous, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Betty S. Haston and her husband, Lenny; grandchildren, April Shrader and Joey Haston; stepsons, William “Bill” Shrader (Frances), Lockard Shrader, Joseph “Joe” Shrader (Mary), Graydon Shrader (Glenda); brothers, Kendal Epling and Sanford Epling (Eunice); and sister, Jane Ward (Ted).

The family extends a heartfelt thanks to the staff of MUSC Hospice and all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly cared for Mrs. Shrader.
