Deanna Theresa DeMusey Obituary
Ms. Deanna Theresa DeMusey, 83, of Camden, South Carolina, peacefully entered eternal rest on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, in Sumter, South Carolina. She was born on July 31, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Stanley and Annie M. Patterson DeMusey.
Ms. DeMusey received her education in Brooklyn, where she was also a devoted member and musician at St. Paul Church of Christ Disciples. She worked in various positions before relocating to South Carolina in the mid 1960s.
After settling in South Carolina, she became a faithful member of Trotter Road Church of Christ and Ames Road Church of Christ. She held several part time positions, including Bank Teller in Sumter, and roles with Blue Cross Blue Shield and the Southeast Public Library in Columbia. She later attended the University of South Carolina, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism. Ms. DeMusey went on to serve as a Publications Editor with the ETV Network, where she eventually retired.
She found joy in reading her Bible, enjoying Christian novels, completing crossword puzzles, attending worship services, and traveling. Her faith and love for learning were lifelong companions.
Ms. DeMusey was a long time and deeply committed member of Long Creek Church of Christ, where she was among the congregation’s longest serving members. She taught Sunday School and faithfully supported the Church of Christ ministry at Fort Jackson, taking great pride in encouraging and uplifting young soldiers.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her step-sister, Margie Pack; nephew, Gregory Pack.
Ms. DeMusey leaves to cherish her memory: her special first cousin, Katherine “Katie” Thomas; her best friend, Gloria Sumpter; her god daughter, Crystal Armstrong; her god grandson, Quincy Timmons; niece, Andrea Judd and son, Ramond Alvarado; special friend, Jackie Walker; along with a host of loving cousins, friends, and church family.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Long Creek Church of Christ with burial to follow Greenlawn Memorial Park. Minister Kelvin Briggs will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 28, 2025 from 2-4 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home.
The DeMusey and Patterson families extend their heartfelt gratitude to The Gardens at Sumter Assisted Living Facility and AGAPE Hospice for their excellent care and compassion shown to Deanna.
