Shirley Ann McCathern Privette Obituary

Shirley Ann Privette, born August 1, 1947, passed away surrounded by love on December 30, 2025. She was the wife of the late Cecil Hicks Privette and a devoted daughter of the late Kervin and Elizabeth McCathern.

Shirley was a loving mother to Eugene Privette (Martha), Renee Eddings (James), Johnny “Pool” Privette, and Russell Privette (Audra). She was a proud grandmother to 14 grandchildren, blessed with 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Her family was her greatest joy, and she took immense pride in each generation.

Shirley loved spending time with her family, especially babysitting her grandchildren and caring for her yard, which reflected the patience and love she showed in all areas of her life. She retired from DeRoyal Textile after 25 years of dedicated service.

She attended Mt. Hebron Freewill Baptist Church, where she found comfort, fellowship, and strength in her faith.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by nine siblings; her granddaughter, Jordan Privette; daughter, Lisa Ann; and her great-granddaughter, Shae-Lynne. She is survived by two brothers, along with her children, grandchildren, and extended family who will forever cherish her memory.

A service to celebrate the life of Shirley Ann McCathern Privette, 78, will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Hebron Freewill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Jack Cobb will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to Sister Care.

Shirley Ann Privette will be remembered for her loving heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family.
