The Irmo boys basketball team made sure Dutch Fork didn’t have a long stay at the top of the Class 5A Division I poll.
The Yellow Jackets knocked off the rival Silver Foxes, 48-42, on Friday at The Temple of Doom. The loss is Dutch Fork’s first in Region 5-5A play and comes three days after the Silver Foxes were ranked No. 1 in SC Basketball Coaches poll.
It also snapped Irmo’s three-game losing streak to Dutch Fork .
Oshon Browman scored 21 points, including a three-point play to put the Yellow Jackets up 39-36 almost midway through the fourth quarter. Christian Brown added 11 for Irmo , which won its third straight region game after an 0-2 start. The two teams will play again on Feb. 12 to close the regular season.
Samajae Govan led Dutch Fork with 17 points.
