Obituary of Lessie J. Goff

LUGOFF-Funeral service for Lessie Jeffers Goff, 92, will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church with burial to follow in W.W. Goff Family Cemetery. Rev. Brandon Goff, Rev. Paul Miles, and Rev. George Cashwell will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday 7-9 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the National Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Mrs. Goff, wife of the late Woodrow W. Goff, died Monday, February 15, 2010. Born on November 22, 1917 in Blaney, she was a daughter of the late Elmore Joel Jeffers and Corrie Bell Neely Jeffers. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and was involved in many of the activities of the church. She was a member of Woodmen of the World and was past president of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and was great support in helping with their family farm. She never let the needs of others go unattended giving what she had to help others.

Surviving are her sons, Floyd W. Goff (Lyllian) of Lugoff, and Frederick W. Goff of Americus, Ga.; daughters, Doris C. Goff Brown of Lugoff, Judy Goff Groves of Lugoff, and Beverly Goff St. Pierre (Don) of Paulina, La.; brother, Bobby Jeffers (Ruby) of Elgin; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by daughter, Sheron Goff; and brothers, Howell Jeffers, David Jeffers, and James Jeffers.
