SC Midlands hit by earthquake for 2nd time in days

The Midlands of South Carolina was shook Monday morning by the latest in a series of earthquakes. The 1.8-magnitude quake was recorded near Elgin on Monday, according to the S.C. Department of Natural Resources’ Geological Survey. Rumblings were felt shortly after 10 a.m. and were recorded by the U.S. Geological Survey at a depth of 4.7 kilometers beneath the surface, or just under three miles. Another earthquake hits tremor-prone area of the Midlands near Fort Jackson

A small earthquake sent tremors through part of Kershaw County on Friday afternoon, according to seismologists at the United States Geological Survey. It was the first seismic activity in months in an area that has been repeatedly hit with seismic activity.
