Kershaw county school board members last week approved a design for the new Jackson Elementary School. What’s next? Administrators and architects will now develop a site package for the school to determine where the building will sit, where to place power and sewer lines and other details. School’s out after Sunday fire – Lugoff-Elgin High expected to reopen Wednesday

Classes were canceled today at Lugoff-Elgin High School after a fire erupted Sunday afternoon in a storage room at the school. Firefighters from four companies responded to the blaze, which began about 5:30 p.m., Lugoff Fire Chief Robert Polksaid Sunday. Kershaw teachers awarded grants

Fourteen Kershaw County teachers have received Education Improvement Act awards totaling $47,100. Teachers at Blaney Elementary, Camden Elementary, Camden Middle, Doby’s Mill Elementary and Lugoff-Elgin Middle received funds. The awards, announced by the State Department of Education, are funded by the General Assembly to promote creativity and innovation in the classroom.
