DEATH OF MR. P. B. STOKES,

Passed Away in Georgia Sanitarium. Interment in Spartanburg.

Spartanburg, Oct. 12.- Mr. P. Beverly Stokes, a son of the late Rev. A. J. Stokes of the South Carolina conference and brother of Dr. W. M. Stokes of this city, was buried here today in Oakwood cemetery.

Mr. Stokes was for many years with conspicuous efficiency in the engineering department of the United States government, retiring several years ago on account of failing health. He then went to Georgia in the hope that his health would be benefitted. However, he rapidly grew worse and on Wednesday night died in a sanitarium in Georgia. His body was brought to this city today and the interment was made here.

Mr. Stokes was 40 years of age, being unmarried. He is survived by two brothers, Dr. W. S. Stokes of this city and Mr. A. J. Stokes of Asheville. Mr. Stokes was popularity known in many sections and his death is generally regretted.
