Roy Hornsby

PONTIAC – Funeral services for Roy (Chuck) Hornsby, 65, will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Spears Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. A. T. Brownlow, and the Rev. George Walker. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Sam Watts, M. C. Brown, Sr., Thurston Goff, Randolph Delk, Sam Youngblood and Wayne LeGrand.

Mr. Hornsby died Sunday in Baptist Hospital.

Mr. Hornsby was born in Blythewood to Mrs. Lizzie Hornsby and the late Clifton Hornsby. He was a carpenter and a member of Spears Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are his mother; his widow, Mrs. Lillie Medlin Hornsby of Pontiac; two daughters, Mrs. Edith Grigsby of Columbia and Mrs. W. T. Meinhardt of Mt. Vernon, Ala.; five sisters, Mrs. Annie Bell Jacobs of Columbia and Mrs. June Ballantine of Ballantine; Mrs. Beverly Hayes of Columbia, Mrs. Virginia Douglas of Killian and Mrs. Portia Douglas of Columbia; two brothers, Willie Hornsby of Columbia and Johnnie Hornsby of Blythewood; and ten grandchildren.

Friends may call at the family residence in Pontiac.

PONTIAC – Roy Hornsby, 65, died Sunday at the Baptist Hospital.

Mr. Hornsby was born in Blythewood, son of Mrs. Lizzie Hornsby and the late Clifton Hornsby. He was a carpenter and a member of Spears Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving besides his mother are his wife, Mrs. Lillie Medlin Hornsby of Pontiac; two daughters, Mrs. Edith Grigsby of Columbia and Mrs. W. T. Meinhardt of Mt. Vernon, Ala.; five sisters, Mrs. Annie Bell Jacobs of Columbia and Mrs. June Ballantine of Ballantine; Mrs. Beverly Hayes of Columbia, Mrs. Virginia Douglas of Killian and Mrs. Portia Douglas of Columbia; two brothers, Willie Hornsby of Columbia and Johnnie Hornsby of Blythewood; ten grandchildren.

Funeral plans are incomplete and will be announced by Paschal Funeral Home.

Hornsby Rites

PONTIAC – Funeral services for Roy Hornsby will be held at 3 p. m. Tuesday at the Spear’s Creek Baptist Church.
