SELF-INFLICTED WOUND FATAL FOR TV CO-HOST
Lynn Nevius Sessions, co-host of WIS-TV’s “Today in Carolina” show, died last night of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Mrs. Session, 28, had been employed at WIS-TV since 1967 and conducted an interview segment on the station’s midday news program in addition to the morning talk show.
According to police reports, Mrs. Sessions was discovered lying shot at the top of the stairs at her house at 1401 Lorick avenue by her husband.
She died at Richland Memorial Hosptial late last night.
Funeral plans will be announced by Talbert-Shives Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sessions was born in Dillon, a daughter of Edwin M Nevius and Eva Manning Nevius. She was the woman’s news editor for WIS-TV.
Newswoman Dies
She was a graduate fo Columbia College, 1967 where she was the recipient of the “Most Valuable Player Award.” She was the “Woman of the Year in 1970”, listed in Who’s Who in American Radio and TV, listed as on of the top “100 Women in TV in America. She was South Carolina Career Woman of the Year in 1970, winner of local and national awards for TV coverage and numerous awards for acting.
Surviving are her husband, Tally P. Sessions: her parents, Mrs. E. M. Nevius of Winter Park, Fla. and Edwin M. Nevius of Las Vegas; a sister, Mrs. Roberta N. Sessions of Charlotte.

Services Held Today
Funeral services for Mrs. Eve Lynn Nevius Sessions were held today in College Place United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. William W. Butler and the Rev. Mr. C. J. Hammet. Burial was in Union Baptist Church cemetery in Elgin.
Pallbears were Hugh Gene Eaker, John A. Morris Jr., Joseph Pinner, James S. Welch, K.James Yager and Sidney J. Palmer.

Mrs. Eve Lynn Nevius Sessions, 28, local television personality and wife of Tally T. Sessions, died late Sunday night in Richland Memorial Hospital apparently of self-inflicted gunshot wound.
According to police reports, Mrs. Sessions was discovered lying shot at the top of the stairs at her home, 1401 Lorick avenue by her husband.
Born in Dillon, Mrs. Sessions was a daughter of Edwin M Nevius and Eva Manning Nevius.
Mrs. Sessions, who retained her maiden name, Lynn Nevius, in her professional career, was a graduate of Columbia College, Class of 1967. Her family was closely connected with Columbia College. Her mother was a graduate there and she, her husband and her sister all studied in the Columbia College Theater Department.
WIS-TV’S Lynn Nevis Dies
According to Gene Eaker, director of the Columbia College Theater Department, Mrs. Sessions was an “outstanding graduate.”
She appeared int he Columbia College production of “Anitgone” and starred in “Country Girl,” for which she won the Columbia College Best Actress of the Year award.
Mrs. Sessions did much lighting work for Columbia College plays and received the Most Valuable Players of the Year Award given for work in all aspects of theater at the college.
Following graduation in 1967. Mrs. Sessions went to work for WIS-TV, where she was Women’s News Editor at the time of her death.
Mrs. Sessions was familiar to most South Carolinas as co-host of the “Today in Carolina” show and for her interview segments on the “One O’Clock Report.”
She was also featured on the “Seven O’clock” report.
Recognition coming to Mrs. Session during her professional career included selection in 1969 at South Carolina Young Career Woman of the Year and Career Woman of the Year in South Carolina in 1970.
Mrs. Sessions was also listed in Who’s Who in American Radio and Television and listed among the Top 100 Women in Television in America.
She was a winner of local and national awards for television and numerous awards for acting. She was a member of the South Carolina Chapter of women in Radio and Televison.
Surviving are her husband, Tally T. Sessions of the home; her mother, Mrs. Eva Manning Nevius of Winter Park, Fla.; her father, Edwin M. Nevius of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister, Mrs. Roberta Nevius Sessions of Charlotte, N.C.; and her maternal grandmother. Mrs. Nannie S. Manning of Latta.
Services will be 3 p.m. today in College Place United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. William W. Butler and the Rev. C. J. Hamet. Burial will be in Union Baptist Church cemetery in Elgin.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Hon. Gov. John C. West, Dr. R. Wright Spears, James Dickey, Dave Rogers, Rep. Alex Sanders, D-Rich., Bell Benton, Dick Edwards and Mickey Hooten.

I adored her
I watched her show every morning when I lived in Sumpter. She seemed like a very intelligent and accomplished woman.
