Fred Truell Jr was born November 17, 1926 in Forsyth County, North Carolina, the son of Fred Truell Sr. and Elizabeth Truell Honeycutt.

1997

ELGIN – Services for Fred Truell Jr., 70, will be held at 4 p.m. today at Blaney Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery with full military honors. Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel, is in charge. The Rev. Lawrence Dennis will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Blaney 2000 Fund, 1400 Blaney Baptist Church, P.O. Box 305, Elgin, 29045, the American Diabetes Association of S. C., 2711 Middleburg Dr., Suite #312, Columbia, 29204, or the American Heart Association of S. C., P. O. Box 6604, Columbia, 29260.

Mr. Truell died Wednesday, September 24, 1997, at Providence Hospital. Born in Forsyth County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Fred Truell Sr. and Elizabeth Truell Honeycutt. A retired First Sergeant, he was a highly decorated veteran of the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He later served as the Elgin Municipal Court Judge, until 1996. He attended Blaney Baptist Church, and was a member of the Men’s Adult Class.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Miles Truell of Elgin; sons, Michael Alan and his wife, Deborah Truell, of Elgin and Thomas Gene Truell of Columbia, James Randall Truell and his wife, Bernice Truell of Elgin; and grandchildren, Christopher Truell, Kimberly Truell, Joshua Truell, Cory Truell, and Elizabeth Truell.
