CHARLOTTE — Graveside services for Lola Sturkie Bailey, 72, will be held Thursday, April 26, 2007 at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Donnie Dixon will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 26, 2007 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Kornegay Funeral Home Camden Chapel. Memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 12 Hickory Head Road, P.O. Box 488, Westville, SC 29175.
Mrs. Bailey, widow of William Wellington Bailey, died Sunday, April 22, 2007. Born in Blaney, she was the daughter of the late Frank S. Sturkie and Almetta Williams Sturkie. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and attended Oakdale Baptist Church in Charlotte. She was also a volunteer for Project Halo.
Surviving are a daughter, Debora Alexander of Charlotte; sons, Randall Bailey of Myrtle Beach, and Alan Bailey of Charlotte; sister, Ann Dixon of Seymour, TN; brother, Carl Sturkie of W. Cola, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, William W. Bailey, Jr., brothers, Harry Sturkie, Gene Sturkie, and Roy Sturkie, and a sister, Mary Lou Gunter.
