ELGIN – A graveside service for Ruth Laura Butcher, 78, of Elgin, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2010, in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens on Two Notch Road, Elgin, SC. Mrs. Butcher passed away Monday, February 1, 2010. She was born in Charleston, SC, to the late Robert and Virginia Smith. Mrs. Butcher was predeceased by her husband, Clifford G. Butcher Sr.

Ruth was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother and grandmother always putting her family first until the end of her life.

Surviving are her children, Clifford G. Butcher Jr. and Brenda J. Butcher; a granddaughter, Tiffany P. Butcher; a brother, Jack Bernard Smith; and a sister-in-law, Pauline Butcher; and a host of other family and friends from South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.
