Annette Jacobs Barton, 86, of Pontiac, died Sunday, October 9, 2011. A graveside service will be held at 2 o’clock, Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at Spears Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 116 Spears Creek Church Lane, Elgin, SC 29045, with The Rev. Elton LeGrand officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Brown, Wayne LeGrand, J.L. LeGrand, Swayze LeGrand, Ronnie Jacobs, and Gerald LeGrand. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert M. Wise, Colie Blackwell, and Ernie Gilbert. Memorials may be made to Spears Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. Shives Funeral Home of Columbia is assisting the family.
Mrs. Barton was born in Pontiac, SC, on May 22, 1925, a daughter of the late Earl Jacobs and Evetta Jacobs. She was blessed in her lifetime with two loving husbands, the late Willie Coleman, to whom she was married for 27 years and her second, the late James Barton, to whom she was married for 16 years. Mrs. Barton was a life-long member of Spears Creek Baptist Church in Pontiac.
She is survived by two daughters, Adrienne Blume and husband, Jerry, of Bamberg, Willette Wise and husband, Allen, of Columbia; grandchildren, Andrea (William) Zeigler, Abigail Blume, Evan Wise and Robert A. Wise; great-grandson, Bentley Zeigler; sister, Earlene LeGrand of Pontiac; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Barton was preceded in death by brother, Otto Jacobs; sister, Eloise Jacobs, and an infant son.
