Obituary of Edna Maybelle Nelson

A funeral service celebrating the life of Edna Maybelle Nelson will be held Friday, September 2, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Hillcrest Baptist Church.  Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.

                Maybelle passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2022, peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was born in Prince Edward County, Virginia, while her father served in the United States Army. She returned to Elgin as a child with her parents, the late Vincent Samuel Watts and Edna Louise Ellisor Watts. She is also an Alumni of Blaney High School Class of 1964. Maybelle was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a fervent fan of NASCAR racing. She traveled with family and friends to attend races from Florida to California. She also enjoyed taking trips with her family and friends.

                Maybelle is survived by her son, James Mark Nelson; daughter, Patty Florence (Patrick); grandchildren, Brittany Finch (Byron), Frankie Nelson (Tonya), Joshua Beam, and Heather Nelson; great-grandchildren, Madisyn Finch and J.B. Finch; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 She was predeceased by sister, Faye Sessions (Otis).
