Obituary of Richard Ammons

LUGOFF – Richard Claude Ammons, Jr., 83, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023.  Born in Lugoff, he was the son of the late Richard Claude Ammons, Sr., and Naomi Ross Ammons Lattimore.  He retired from DuPont.  He was an avid fisherman and loved catching Crappie and Rock Fish.  He was a faithful fan of Clemson Football.  Mr. Ammons enjoyed good food and could be found for breakfast at the Haile Street Grill or on Monday nights at Leo’s, eating chicken wings.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Connie Lorraine Neal Ammons; daughters, Dona Ammons (George) of Ridgeway) Ashleigh Ammons White (Michael) of Lexington; son, Ricky Ammons (Laura) of Greenville; stepson, Ronald Smith (Jan) of West Columbia; brother, Billy Ammons (Lynn) of Camden; stepbrother, Ronnie Lattimore (Michelle); 10 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

The family will have a private service.
