Obituary of Shirley McCants Holloman
CAMDEN-A funeral service for Shirley McCants Holloman, 81, will be held Wednesday, November 08, 2023, at 11:00 am at Powers Funeral Home. A burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Walterboro, SC at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. Clint Ellis will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kershaw Baptist Association at 14 E. DeKalb Street, Camden, SC 29020.
Mrs. Holloman, formerly of Walterboro, SC, passed away on Sunday, November 05, 2023. Born in Ashwood, SC, on August 23, 1942, she was the daughter of the late John T. McCants and Annie Laura Overstreet McCants. She married the love of her life, the late Freddie Rozier Holloman, Jr., on November 18, 1960. They were married for 35 years before he passed. Over a period of 20 years Mom was a city building inspector for Colleton County and the City of Walterboro. She attended Walterboro First Baptist Church for 26 years before moving to Lugoff where she attended Camden First Baptist Church for another 23 years. Mrs. Holloman was a servant of the church, helping others, picking up those that needed rides to church, the store or doctor visits, visited nursing homes and those who were sick. She taught Sunday school at both locations she attended, starting with the youth group for 15 years and then taught the married couples, senior ladies Sunday school. She loved mission work, serving in Africa and Venezuela.
Mrs. Holloman loved spending time with her grandbabies and great grandbabies, nothing made her happier. She also loved working in her flower garden. She enjoyed shopping and cooking, she would often take food to those that were sick or grieving. Her favorite quote was, “this too shall pass.”
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Julie Holloman Ozmore (Greg), Kim Holloman (Susan), and Laurie Holloman Smith (Alan); brother, Johnny Thomas McCants, Jr.; grandchildren, Malarie Falls (Robbie), Brittany Hazel (Tyler), Benjamin Smith (Schanen), Meagan Stoner (Nat), and Cullen Smith; grand-dog, Conner Holloman; great-grandchildren, Breelynn Falls, Beckham Falls, Larkin Falls, Gracyn Hazel, JR Hazel, Gibson Smith, Calvin Smith, Maddox Stoner, and Finnely Stoner.
