Obituary of Alice Faye South

Alice Faye Key South, 72, of Lugoff, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024. Born in Birmingham, AL on March 15, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Franklin and Dorothy Guthrie Key and the wife of the late Gary South. Alice retired from Wal-Mart as a Sales Associate after 18 years of faithful service. Her entire life revolved around her family. She adored her only daughter, Tammy, and loved her grandchildren unconditionally. Alice enjoyed tending to her tomato plants, morning walks on the beach, cooking and bringing meals to her family, and spending time with her little dog, Bama. The true definition of a fighter, Alice was tough as nails but was always a shining example of love and generosity. She was a caring and devoted mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by those that had the pleasure of knowing her.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Tammy Blizzard; grandchildren, Bradley H. Blizzard (Alex), Alycechapin S. Blizzard (Ricky), Chad M. Blizzard (Maysie), and Ryan R. Gardner; and sisters, Carol Jones, Wanda Key, and Teresa Key.

In addition to her husband and parents, Alice was preceded in death by her siblings, Vera Lomax, Etta Fleming Casey, Patricia L. McLoud, Jeanette Key, Willie Key, Clyde Key, Mark Key, Charlie Key, Delano Key, and Matt Key.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.
