Obituary of Willie Mae Wooten

Camden – A service to celebrate the life of Willie Mae Wooten, 89, will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church in Westville, with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Exchange at K.A.R.E of Kershaw, SC, www.kershawkare.org. 

Mrs. Wooten passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024, at MUSC Kershaw Health surrounded by her family. Born in Blaney, she was the daughter of the late Willie W. McCaa and Leila Gladden McCaa. She formerly worked for Liggett Drug Store in Lugoff.  She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Westville where she was active in the Women’s Missionary Union “WMU”, former Girls in Action “GA’s” teacher, and served on the social committee.  She volunteered with the Exchange by K.A.R.E in Kershaw and was an avid reader.

Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Johnny Wooten; sons, John Galuppi (DeeDee) of Camden, Jeffery David Galuppi of Ormond Beach, Fla., Gregory W. Galuppi (Janet) of Westville and Eric Wooten (Kim) of Lugoff; sister, Cora Branham; brother-in-law, Bobby Joyner; grandchildren, Angella Galuppi Grier (Jason), Gregory W. Galuppi Jr. (Kristen), Joey Galuppi (Natalie), Andrew Neil Galuppi (Carol), Gavin Wooten, Alana Hall (Lowell) and Abram Johnson; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a sister, Dollie Joyner; and a brother in law, Roy Branham.
