Aileen Atkinson Parker, 86, widow of Delma West Parker and George Donald Stokes, Sr., passed away Monday, June 3, 2024, at Carroll Campbell Place in Lexington.
Born February 21, 1938, in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late John Heyward Atkinson, Sr. and the late Martha “Mae” Logan Atkinson. She was a member of First Baptist Church Camden since 1962 and was a member of several Sunday School Classes over the years, the last one being the Rope Holders Sunday School Class. She was always willing to help those in need with a meal, transportation to appointments, or whatever they needed, regardless of her own schedule. Mrs. Parker also made the most amazing pound cakes, and you were blessed if you were ever lucky enough to get one.
Survivors include a son, Delma Larry Parker (Elizabeth); a grandson, Kyle Weston Parker (Baylee); two sisters, Shelby Russell and JoAnn Elmore; a brother, Mac Atkinson (Judy); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. Friday at First Baptist Church Camden with the Rev. Phillip Gerrald and the Rev. Davis McGuirt officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Camden.
Pallbearers will be John McGuirt, Lucas Richardson, Russ Elmore, Harry Johnson, Johnny Deal, and Steve Wilson.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 A.M. Friday at First Baptist Church Camden.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the caregivers at Lexington Medical Center and Carroll Campbell Place for the exceptional care they provided, and to Pat Healy for the loving care she provided over the past three years.
