Obituary of James C. Ray, Sr

James C. Ray, Sr., 77, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024. Born on December 25, 1946, in Cassatt, SC, he was the son of the late James Claude and Viola Parker Ray, Sr. and the husband of the late Margie Anderson Ray.

Mr. Ray enjoyed farming, gardening, listening to blue grass and gospel music, and cutting his grass. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Above all else he enjoyed spending time with his grandbabies and family.  If loving your wife could be a hobby, Mr. Ray would be a professional. He loved and adored his late wife, Margie Anderson Ray, and after her unfortunate passing, he longed for the day he would be reunited with her.

Mr. Ray is survived by sons, Timothy A. Ray (Amy) and Billy Nathan Ray, Sr.  (Ashley); Grandchildren, Nathan Ray, Jr., Tyler Ray, Kaitlyn Ray, Hannah Ray, Ashby Tidwell, Gabriel Self and Benji Self; a brother, Claude Ray Jr. (Ernestine); sisters, Louise Chappell (Bill), Carolyn Morris (Tim), and Sarah Branham (Pete); Carol Baker (Roddy).

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Ray was predeceased by his son, James C. Ray, Jr.; a brother, Charles Ray; sisters, Jessie Hughes Anderson, Mary Alice Osmer, Geneva Lyles, and Vera Stephens

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Emmanuel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The Rev. David Brannen will officiate.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
