LUGOFF – Graveside service for (Ret. U.S. Army) SGM Harry E. Peyton, Jr., 88, will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Peyton passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024. Born in Detroit, MI, he was the son of the late Harry E. Peyton, Sr. and Alice Jordison Peyton. He proudly served his country and retired from the U.S. Army after 28 years. Harry continued his service and patriotism by becoming a life member of American Legion Post #17 and the VFW. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Fort Benning, GA #579.
Surviving are his children, Becky Peyton Griffin, Harry W. Peyton (Lisa), Alice Lee Peyton, Lynn Renee Peyton McCullough (Frank), Debra Nadeau (Mark), John Frazier (Sheri); daughter-in-law, Lee Peyton; several grandchildren, including Amber, Shane, Brad, Brittany, Harry II, and Scott; brother, Tom Peyton (Shirley) and sister, Margaret Skiver (Kenny). He was predeceased by his sons, Donald Peyton and Richard Peyton.
