Obituary of Arthur Odell Hendrix

CAMDEN- A funeral service for Arthur Odell Hendrix, 87, will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Dekalb Baptist Church with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Vince Earl will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday from 7-9 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dekalb Baptist Church.

     Mr. Hendrix, husband of the late Sara L. Hendrix, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Born in Hartsville, he was a son of the late Wister C. Hendrix and Mamie Watford Hendrix. Mr. Hendrix retired from Kendall Corporation, then went to work and retire from Builder’s Transport and Schneider Trucking. He was a member of Dekalb Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed woodworking, coin collecting, coaching baseball, and watching the Atlanta Braves.

    Surviving are his daughter, Jeannie Branham of Lugoff; son, Arthur O. “Peanut” Hendrix, Jr. (Lisa) of Kershaw; grandchildren, Corey Grooms (Mary), Christina Hall (Hunter), Rhiannon, Ty, Tyler Watkins (Patti), Autum Reeves; and great-grandchildren, Christopher Grooms and Makenzie Grooms. He was predeceased by a grandchild, Mamie Leann Hendrix; siblings, Karen Lamoy, Otis Hall and a son-in-law, Danny Branham.
