Arthur Neil Roepke Obituary

A graveside memorial service for Arthur Neil Roepke, will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Quaker Cemetery, 713 Meeting Street, Camden, SC.  Pastor Scott E. Neill will officiate.  Memorial donations may be made to Greyhound Crossroads, 314 Sample Road, Greenwood, SC 29649.

Neil passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.  He was born December 21, 1965, to the late Arthur C. and Mildred Susan Rhodes Roepke, and was widower of the late Gretchen Watts Roepke.

Neil is survived by his daughter, Katie Busbee, of Greenville, SC; brother, Kenneth Roepke; niece, Nikki Roepke, and sister-in-law, Gretta Watts.

Neil was a loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed cooking, listening to blues and alternative music, and watching old Godzilla and sci-fi movies. Neil was a humorous and optimistic person- he liked to joke and laugh with those around him. Neil was also a pizza aficionado. Even though he and his late wife Gretchen were excellent cooks, he often brought home a Village Idiot Pizza on the weekends for himself and his family. He spent many years while his daughter was growing up traveling across the southeast for soccer and basketball games. Neil loved his daughter dearly and never missed a game or school event.

Later in life, Neil became passionate about his Greyhound dogs and was an active member of Greyhound Crossroads, an organization that helps find loving homes for retired racing greyhounds. Before his death, Neil had just taken a trip with his Greyhound, “Griz”, where they visited a greyhound track in Wheeling, West Virginia.

Neil will be remembered for his kindness to the humans and animals he loved, and he will be missed by many.
