Helen Cornelia Cody, born on October 12, 1942, in Summerton, SC, sadly left us on November 2, 2025 at the Heritage at the Lowman in Chapin. She resided in the community of Elgin, South Carolina, where she touched numerous lives with her kindness, warmth, and resilience. Helen was a woman of faith and a devoted member of Harmony Baptist Church.

Helen took pleasure in the simple joys of life. She was an avid gardener, a lover of nature, and a passionate shopper. She found tranquility in gardening, as it allowed her to connect with nature, and shopping allowed her to express her sense of style and creativity. Her love for watching TV and doing yard work were amongst the many facets of her personality that made her unique and unforgettable. 

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Lee Griffin and Louise Rose Light Griffin; and a son, Jimmy Lee Cody.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. at Harmony Baptist Church, 998 Tookie Doo Lane, Elgin S.C.  A graveside service will follow on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in Oaklawn Cemetery, 1200 Pine Street, Pelion S.C.

She leaves behind her loving children, Sharon Campbell (Timothy) of Elgin, S.C., Kenny Cody (Janice) of Lexington,  Joey Thames (Angie) of Manning, S.C., and Robert Thames (Connie) of Shelbyville, Ky., who will always remember their mother as a pillar of strength and a source of endless love and support. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
