Evon Jackson Obituary

Evon Pittman Jackson, a beacon of love and kindness in her community, passed away on November 16, 2025, leaving a legacy of care and resilience. Born in Camden, S.C., on September 9, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Fred Otis and Dorothy Meadows Pittman.  Evon spent her life making people feel loved, cared for, and valued – whether as a cherished family member, a dedicated teaching assistant in the public schools, and a member of Springvale Baptist Church.

In her retirement, Evon found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid gardener, generously sharing the fruits of her labor with the community she loved. She also enjoyed sewing, crafting beautiful pieces that reflected her creativity and attention to detail. But perhaps her most cherished roles were those of wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. As the matriarch of the Jackson family, Evon was the embodiment of love and selflessness, always putting the needs of her loved ones first. Her feisty spirit and hearty laughter made every family gathering an event to remember.

Evon is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Charles Calven Jackson; daughters, Sharon J. Blakeney (Rodger) of Lugoff and Jennifer Stokes (Scott) of Camden; brothers, Paul Pittman and Ronnie Pittman; grandchildren, Charlie Jeffers (Justin), Andy Stokes (Megan), Leah Stokes, Eden Stokes, Garland Stokes (Amanda), and Hunter Stokes; and great-grandchildren, Abby Jeffers, Jack Jeffers, Jase Jeffers, Paisleigh Stokes, and Beau Stokes.  She was predeceased by a daughter, Wanda Jackson; brother, Fred Pittman; and sisters, Barbara Pittman, Eva Self and Joyce Bell.

Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Patsy’s Place, 1593 Valencia Road, Ridgeway, S.C.  29130.
