ELGIN- A funeral service for Sherrie Ann Guest, 61, will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at St. John’s United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The Rev. John Jordan will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30 – 11:30 in the church sanctuary. 

Mrs. Guest passed away on January 5, 2026. Born in Barberton, OH, she was a daughter of the late William T. and Dortha A. Hicks Horton. Sherrie was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. She worked as a nurse for over 40 years and was currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Psychology from USC. Sherrie loved rabbits, making necklace collars for her service dog, Kiss, a Boston Terrier service dog. She enjoyed reading books, especially her favorite author James Patterson. Sherrie was an avid Cleveland Brown’s fan and college football.  

Surviving are her husband, Steven Guest; sons, Daniel Guest (Ashlyn Wages) of Anderson; Matthew Guest of Elgin; sisters, Terrie Horton; Patricia Metheney (Jim); and nephews, William B. Horton, Jason Menzel; and a niece Jennifer Menzel McCracken.
