William Arthur Berchtold, 77, passed away at home on Monday, January 5, 2026.  Born in Jersey City, N.J., he was the son of the late William John Berchtold and Lillian Auffinger Berchtold.  He retired from trucking and spending a lifetime traveling the roads of the U.S.  He enjoyed riding motorcycles and always enjoyed going to the motorcycle rallies in Lake George, N.Y.  He was a train enthusiast.

Mr. Berchtold leaves to cherish his memory are his daughter, Aileen Cattau (Bobby) of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; son, Dennis Berchtold (Stephanie) of Cassatt;  sisters, Diane Lee, Sharon Sammis, Barbara Vandemark, and Marie Berchtold; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by daughter, Traci Berchtold; son, Michael Berchtold; and brothers, James Berchtold and John Berchtold.
