 Patricia Lou “Patty” Baltes was born on 11 Jan 1938 in Tonawanda, Erie, New York, USA a child of Robert Charles Baltes and Virginia Grace Garlock Baltes.

Patty Templar Obituary

Patty Lou Templar passed away on Thursday, January 8, just 3 days short of her 88th birthday after a period of declining health.  Born in Tonawanda, N.Y. to the late Robert and Virginia Baltes.  She moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where she attended Shaw High School.  After graduating, she met and married William Templar and they went on to have 9 children.

Patty embraced motherhood and loved reading stories to the kids each night and making gingerbread houses, pulling taffy and hard candy around the holidays, she was forever baking bread and other treats for her kids.  Patty’s second love was animals.  She nursed several back to health when the kids rescued them and her love of horses was known by all who knew her and when she relocated to Camden she worked on several horse farms.  Gardening was a passion for Patty and she loved sharing the bounty with her family and friends as well as eggs from her chickens.  Patty loved being surrounded by her children and their families.  

Left to cherish her memory, are her children, Kathy Ladovich (Steve), Lisa Beltrandi (Scott), Susan Templar, Michelle Scott, Erik Templar (Rhonda), Danny Templar, and Tom Templar (Brooke); 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her husband, William Carl Templar; daughter, Laura Neilson; son, Gregory W. Templar; and brother, James Baltes.

A service to celebrate Patt’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

We the family are heartbroken but grateful she is free from pain.  The family would like to thank MUSC Kershaw Health Medical Center 3rd floor nurses, MUSC Kershaw Health Hospice team for their kindness to our mom and your care will be forever remembered.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kershaw County Humane Society.
