PONTIAC – Earl J. Jacobs, 72, died this morning in Providence Hospital in Columbia.
He was a lifelong resident on Pontiac and a member of Spears Creek Baptist Church where he was a member of the men’s Bible class. He was a retired merchant and farmer, a former employe of Forest Lake Country Club, and a former trustee of the Richland County schools from the Pontiac district.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Evetta J. Jacobs of Pontiac; three daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Earline) Legrand, Miss Eloise Jacobs and Mrs. Annette J. Coleman, all on Pontiac; one son Morris Otto Jacobs of Pontiac; three sisters, Mrs. Lillie Hornsby
of Pontiac, Mrs. Milwee Youngblood of Columbia and Mrs. Evelyn Bullock of Bessemer, Ala.; one brother, Bert Medlin of Gary, In.; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral plans will be announced by Talbert-Shives Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Earl J. Jacobs will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Spears Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Everett Reconnu, Rev. Dallas Goff and Rev. Claude A. Hightower with burial in the church cemetery.
Mr. Jacobs, 72, of Pontiac died yesterday in a local hospital.
Memorial may be made to Leukemia Research, American Cancer Society, 1940 Blossom Street.
Talbert-Shives Funeral Home is in charge.

Earl J. Jacobs, 72 of Pontiac died Thursday in Providence hospital after a long illness.
A life-long resident of Pontiac, he was a member of Spears Creek Baptist Church. A retired merchant and farmer, he was a former employee at Forest Lake Country Club and a former Trustee of the Richland County Schools from the Pontiac District.
